An owner-operator relied heavily on external specialists for fitness-for-service (FFS) assessments and complex mechanical integrity decisions. Internal teams had foundational knowledge, but lacked a structured framework to consistently apply ASME and API methodologies for pressure equipment. Previous Code training efforts were not as effective as they focued on the code book paragraphs rather than practical application and understanding (failure modes, analysis methods, etc.).
A structured, multi-session training and coaching program was delivered over ~30 hours, specifically tailored to maintenance engineers and integrity personnel. The program combined fundamentals (stress analysis, failure modes, code structure) with applied FFS methodologies, progressing from basic concepts through real-world case discussions and problem-solving exercises. Sessions were delivered in short, focused intervals to reinforce learning, with follow-up discussions, assignments, and ongoing consultation to bridge the gap between theory and actual plant decisions.
